Sharecare programs

Project Overview

Sharecare wanted to create informative, and engaging, health programs for existing and new users. The challenge was to understand, and pinpoint, simple behaviors to target and a receptive audience to adopt the target behaviors to. The four initial programs that would be available to users were: weight loss, exercise, sleep better, and quit smoking.

Initially, extensive research was performed to help better understand behaviors and how the product team should target the digital product, and it's content, to be more specific. I wanted to streamline the design process by performing preliminary research which started with studying white papers about behavioral practices and different levels of decision making; including building a sample calendar program plan. The result was a four and eight week option program interface that would provide daily task and goals for the user to perform to meet their own personal goal(s). Task were escalated each week to help ensure a user could meet their goal. Users were given the option of joining related program groups for sharing progress, support or motivating others.

Discovery & research

After discovery discussions and white-boarding sessions with the team, I decided to research the wide range of problems that could be solved by creating a digital product that could persuade someone to utilize a program.

Collaborating, reading, content design

I searched for articles and papers to help understand behaviors, how they can change and creating persuasive technologies/products through a design process. I used the research findings to create a sample four week program calendar below.

User Flows & Scenarios

Utilizing the personas varied demographics, I created user flows and detailed scenarios to establish the paths each user would take to achieve progress toward their selected goals. For example, the Lisa persona is an information seeker who researches before making any decision. She wanted to find a program to be able to control problems resulting in sleep loss which had a direct affect on her high blood pressure. I worked closely with the product manager to encapsulate varied, yet specific paths that each persona may take.

Wireframes

Soon after the program types, research into how users would interact with the content, and detailed user scenarios were finalized with the product team I took to Omnigraffle and started creating medium fidelity versions of the site in desktop and mobile site (adaptive) viewpoints.  Having accumulated a large amount of project knowledge, I had a very clear vision for the product we needed to create to solve the problems we identified.

There are screenshots of the redesign below illustrating an authenticated user's path to selecting and starting a program, establishing any baselines, viewing the primary content for the first day, and looking ahead to the next day once the daily task has been completed.
